    Description

    The Manager of Inflight Training is responsible for overseeing the delivery of flight attendant (inflight crewmember) training, managing the training budget, evaluating training outcomes, and fostering a culture of excellence while ensuring compliance with safety regulations, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements, and other industry standards. This role within JetBlue University (JBU) demands strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, along with a thorough understanding of the airline industry’s operational needs.

    As a Manager - Inflight Training, you will lead a team of supervisors and instructors, ensuring the delivery of engaging and impactful training content while maintaining high employee engagement and retention. You will stay up to date with industry regulations and trends to ensure compliance with all training programs and collaborate with JBU workgroups to coordinate, plan, develop, and improve inflight regulatory programs and instructor expectations through data analysis. Your responsibilities include supervising, developing, and coaching supervisors and instructors, conducting annual performance evaluations, and setting goals to support professional growth. You will ensure the quality of product delivery through classroom observations, assist in recruiting new supervisors, analysts, and facilitators, and anticipate personnel and expenditure requirements while providing leadership with budget projections. Additionally, you will work with JBU managers and instructors to ensure consistency in training programs, processes, and products to meet regulatory requirements and corporate goals. Partnering with operational counterparts, you will anticipate training needs, support policy and procedures, and assist with the intake of new simulators, including design reviews and acceptance. Continuously assessing contributions, you will seek opportunities to expand and grow the team while handling other assigned duties.


    Requirements

    The successful candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED, along with five years of related training and instruction experience with an airline, and five years of experience in performance management, professional development, and organizational development. Completion of JetBlue Airways Inflight Training Program, including Initial Training and Annual Continuing Qualification Programs, is required, along with knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) related to inflight training. Candidates must be at least 20 years old, have corrected vision to 20/20, and meet physical requirements such as walking down the aircraft aisle, fitting through the over-wing exit, sitting in the Flight Attendant jumpseat without modification, lifting up to 50 pounds, reaching 6’3” without shoes, and pushing carts over 250 pounds. The role requires proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English, knowledge of basic computer and electronic tablet devices, and adherence to JetBlue Inflight Crewmember Uniform Appearance Standards. Candidates must also be able to work in a team, manage varying schedules including weekends, holidays, and last-minute drafting, and be available for occasional overnight travel (30%). A valid passport with at least one year of validity is required. The candidate must pass a ten-year background check and pre-employment drug test and be legally eligible to work in the U.S., as visa sponsorship is not available.

    Preferred qualifications include experience in inflight training for a 121 airline, experience with Advanced Qualification Programs (AQPs), a bachelor’s degree in aviation management or a related field, and experience in career development and succession planning.
