WestJet is seeking full-time Cabin Crew Members to join its team in Vancouver. This safety-critical role requires balancing exceptional guest service with strict adherence to regulated safety standards. As ambassadors of WestJet, Cabin Crew Members play a key role in ensuring passenger safety while delivering the outstanding travel experience that defines the airline.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Cabin Crew, you will enforce and follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure compliance with WestJet and Regulatory Standards. You will properly operate safety and emergency equipment, including oxygen systems, aircraft doors, life rafts, evacuation slides, fire extinguishers, galley equipment, communication equipment, and lighting systems. You will follow all procedures to safely perform on time (SPOT) and ensure exceptional traveler service standards both inflight and on the ground. Responsibilities include completing service and sales in accordance with WestJet service standards, anticipating and adhering to travelers’ needs, and effectively managing uncomfortable or challenging situations with the public. You must carry yourself with the utmost professionalism and poise while on duty or in the public eye and adhere to uniform and appearance standards as prescribed under company policy.
Requirements
The successful candidate must be 19 years of age or older and able to communicate with an advanced level of written and spoken English. Candidates must be proficient in reading English as a requirement for successfully completing training. Preference is given to candidates who speak English and one or more of the following languages: French, Japanese, Korean, Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese, Dutch, Hindi, Punjabi, or Tagalog. Customer service experience is an asset. The candidate must be able to solve problems, make quick decisions in the interest of safety, crew, or traveler needs, and be comfortable working in confined spaces. Flexibility is required to work a varied schedule. A current valid passport is mandatory; where a Canadian passport is not held, a Canadian Permanent Resident card with all necessary visas is required. The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain an Airport Restricted Area Identification Card, requiring a 5-year traceable history, a clear criminal record, and Canadian citizenship or Permanent Resident status. International travel, including to the United States, must be unrestricted. The ability to reach 204 cm without shoes and rise on the balls of the feet is required, as well as the ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist and 22 pounds overhead. Successful completion of the initial training program is mandatory, with no absences permitted. Candidates must be able to travel away from home for extended periods and be willing to work 24/7/365, including any hour of the day or day of the year. Availability for reserve shifts is required, meaning candidates must be contactable and able to report to work within a prescribed time. The candidate must pass a WestJet Post Offer Employment Test and a pre-employment alcohol and drug screening test in accordance with WestJet’s Alcohol and Drug Policy, ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of employees and travelers.
