    All applicants must be willing to participate in up to 6.5 weeks of unpaid training in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas. Upon graduation, successful candidates will be assigned to one of the following base locations: Boston, Charlotte, Washington, D.C., Dallas-Fort Worth, New York City, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, Philadelphia, or Phoenix.

    As an American Airlines Flight Attendant, you will:

    Requirements

    To be eligible for this position, applicants must be at least 20 years old and possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Height and weight must meet the requirements for the safe operation of the aircraft, ensuring the ability to sit in a jump seat, fasten the harness, move through cabin aisles, and operate emergency exits. Applicants are required to pass a DOT pre-employment drug test and a TSA-required fingerprint-based criminal history records check and background check. A valid U.S. or foreign passport with applicable visas is necessary, along with the legal right to work in the United States and the ability to travel unrestricted to and from all states and countries served by American Airlines. Candidates must be willing to relocate based on operational needs, work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours if necessary, and be available for on-call reserve duty, which may last for an indefinite period.

    Flight attendants must represent the American Airlines brand professionally, adhering to uniform standards, including no visible tattoos and no more than one earring per ear. Applicants must be able to attend up to 6 1/2 weeks of unpaid training in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, and be prepared to move to their assigned base upon employment. Proficiency in English is required for making announcements, giving emergency instructions, and performing all safety-related procedures. Candidates must be service-oriented, self-motivated, and possess a positive attitude, with skills in handling difficult situations, problem-solving, complaint resolution, and conflict de-escalation. The role requires the ability to work collaboratively at all organizational levels.

    The position's physical demands include standing for extended periods, lifting luggage, opening and closing overhead compartments with a push/pull force of up to 50 pounds, and assisting disabled passengers with an in-flight wheelchair. Candidates must also be able to push/pull beverage and food carts on inclines with a maximum force of 60 pounds. The role involves extensive travel, spending consecutive nights away from home, and enduring various climates. Applicants must be flexible to alternative work schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours when needed.
