    Description

    As a Sun Country Airlines Flight Attendant, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and comfort of passengers on board. This includes complying with all Federal Aviation Administration regulations, conducting preflight safety checks, and responding effectively to emergencies. Additionally, you will be responsible for onboard sales, meal and beverage service, customer care, and maintaining order in the cabin. Your duties will be carried out in accordance with all applicable safety and health regulations and Sun Country Airlines policies.

    The Flight Attendant Training Class is a five-week, on-site program held at our training facility in Minneapolis, MN. Sun Country Airlines does not provide travel or lodging accommodations during training. To become a Flight Attendant, you must successfully complete this unpaid training class. Upon successful completion, you will receive a $1,000 learning stipend.

    Benefits and Perks

    Sun Country Airlines Flight Attendants receive a monthly guarantee of 72.5 flight hours at a rate of $26.78 per hour. Your compensation is determined by the collective bargaining agreement with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. You will be responsible for purchasing your initial uniform and luggage, which costs approximately $700-$1000 and can be deducted from your payroll. Relocation costs are the responsibility of the Flight Attendant.

    Sun Country Airlines operates 365 days a year, so your work schedule will include various shifts, including weekends, evenings, holidays, and "red-eye" hours. Shifts are bid monthly and awarded based on seniority. As a "reserve" (on-call) Flight Attendant, you must be able to report to the airport within two hours of receiving an assignment and will be scheduled with 10 days off per month. The remaining days, you will be on-call and must be immediately available by phone. As a line-holding Flight Attendant, you will be scheduled with a minimum of 13 days off per month.


    Requirements

    To be eligible for this position, applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, a passport valid for at least six months, and the ability to travel to and from the USA, Canada, and other countries served by Sun Country Airlines. Must also have at least two years of direct customer service experience, basic computer knowledge, and the ability to read, write, understand, and clearly speak in English. Additionally, applicants must be at least 20 years old, have a minimum reach of 80 inches, be able to kneel to operate aircraft doors and perform CPR, work independently and as part of a team, and demonstrate excellent dependability and a strong work ethic.

    Applicants must also be able to remain calm and respond effectively to emergency situations, including aircraft evacuations, in-flight fires, bomb threats, unusual situations, and turbulence. Must be able to manage emergencies and care for passengers under duress, remain constantly alert, and endure repetitive changes in altitude and cabin pressure. Furthermore, applicants must be able to relocate to within two hours of Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, be away from home for up to six nights in a row, and work on-call status for extended periods. Must also fit into FA jump seats and secure the seat belt/shoulder harness assembly without modification, have sufficient vision and hearing to perform the essential functions of the position, meet the demands of a vigorous and varied schedule, and maintain a neat and professional appearance. Applicants must pass all drug testing in compliance with FAA regulations.

    Preferred skills include previous flight attendant experience.

    Physical Demands As a Flight Attendant, you will be required to perform physical tasks that include standing, walking, using your hands and arms, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling. You will also need to be able to talk, hear, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Additionally, you must be able to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. You will also need to frequently push and pull carts weighing between 100 and 250 pounds. This position requires the ability to open and close aircraft doors in both normal and emergency modes.
